Although the cuttings on the ground look haphazard, the pruning process is not. We need to take our time and assess each vine differently depending on the fruit set and what we are trying to accomplish for next year. Utilizing a cane training method (umbrella kniffen) versus spur we are careful to not prune off next years fruiting wood.
