For drummers who want to do a Buddy Rich style drum solo that is exciting, it can be done. Of course no drummer will ever be on the same level as Buddy Rich, but why not try and keep that style of drumming alive. Never try and copy note for note what Buddy played. Just use his style of great drum technique with feel, and use your own idea`s on what your hands and feet can do in a smooth way. The use of accents is so important to get a swing feel on your drum solo. At one point I just played fast triple singles with accents on the rims that I just made up for that swing feel. For drummers who have learned excellent drum technique, doing this style of drumming can be fun.
