End table from a 2by4 - Made by Magnus

This small end table is made from a single piece of a 2by4 pine wood. The table was made for a competition that a swedish company verktygsproffsen.se arranged and this is my contribution to the furniture class.

I made it by chopping up the 2by4 in many small pieces, which then was glued together to "cover" the desired shape. Then I used a rasp disc on my angle grinder to find the rough shape and proceeded with the belt sander to get the shape right. This piece required a lot of sanding! I used a random orbit sander were I could but due to the shape there was a lot of handsanding too!

Instead of using traditional stain, I used a mix of steel wool and vinegar that gave it just the right color. As protection I added two coates of a water based matt finish clear lacker.

Then it was just to add the glass top and the table was finished!
