Abstract:
Exploring the impact of spacetime curvature on vacuum entanglement is at the core of the study of entanglement harvesting from quantum fields, in particular, around black holes. In this work we are able to address entanglement harvesting in 3+1D Schwarzschild spacetime, employing advanced methods to calculate the field's Wightman function in the Boulware, the Hartle-Hawking and the Unruh vacuum state. We demonstrate a lensing effect around the caustics of the black hole spacetime. Here, even for causally connected detectors, pre-existing vacuum entanglement can dominate the harvesting. This is in contrast to flat spacetime where pre-existing entanglement dominates only outside of the causal cone, as was recently shown by Tjoa and Martín-Martínez.
