BASTARD SQUAD 1991 BAND PRACTICE

Met up with the vocalist from this old band I was in around 1990. Hadn't spoken or seen each other in 25 years, so we had a nice catch-up session. He brought a few photos I had never seen of us at that time and an old cassette tape recording of a band practice that I had no idea existed. The band was called Bastard Squad (Auckland, NZ - not to be confused with the Aussie band of the same name). We had one original and played a bunch of covers. We were about 80% enthusiasm, 20% talent hahaha. Not the best recording or performance tbh but, for historical nostalgia, I decided to combine the handful of photos that exist from those days with a handful of songs we jammed on this day. It was all very impromptu - someone brought one of those old cassette decks that had an inbuild condenser microphone and pressed record... raw as fuck like it was back then. Not a bad recording, considering the cassette is now 26 years old, uncared for, recorded with a single shitty microphone, no EQ, in the corner of a shitty practice room and it wasn't even a brand new tape when it was used on the day. I am amazed it is audible at all, all things considered. Picked about 4 tracks from the 40-minute tape.. the rest was either repeated tracks, garbled quality or badly out of tune and hardly worth enduring. Enjoy the sweet tone of the dual Boss Metal Zone pedal attack hahaha.
