Notes During Video:
One Handed Handstands -
1. Start in a handstand, practice shifting body / waist from side to side. Aim for having the center balance point move from above your head and waist - to having your head above your shoulder above waist. Everything on top of each other.
2. After shifting hips open legs as far as you can, have the bottom foot PULL you down, so that your fingers can get off the ground, naturally. (can bend one or both legs here to reduce weight).
3. While in the new balance point position. Switch from palm to fingers on the other hand. Then one finger. Then let go and balance. Push up against the floor with your shoulder.
Bboy Kilo Says: (these tips work well with handstand and one handed handstand)
1. When viewing your handstand from the side you want to be as flat as possible - think about being in a really right ally way.
2. Keep these body parts in check with the CENTER LINE:
Shoulders forward (and up)
Ribs Back
Hips Forward
Feet Back
3. Get used to shifting your weight to one side without taking either wrist up. Then trying going to the finger tips of the accessory hand while pushing up with the supporting shoulder (like a shrug/ IMPORTANT)
4. Practice, reps, longer holds (BOTH SIDES), fewer finger tips).
Nikes -
1. Cartwheel motion but stop halfway. Don't go super high at first go slow and low.
2. Opposite leg of the arm you used to hold aims for your face, hips up, hold
Pikes -
1. Handstand
2. Fold motion, try to touch your toes, hips up (practice folding while standing up first).
Cartwheels -
1. Hands up, think about being a wheel, lean back and push body up to one arm. Don't go super high up, go low. Keep body straight in a line.
2. Get higher with hips. Push with toe. Bring legs down if you feel unsafe.
3. Push with speed, finish.
Handhops - Make sure to have good handstands.
1. Make sure you learn the bending knees motion, practice it in a headstand, elbow and handstand. Arm push and knee hio must be synchronized and DO NOT extend all the way out.
2. Make your first hop.
3. Then keep increasing the number.
4. Then after doing say 4 hops end in a one handed pike or nike.
5. Now practice a pike or nike with a hop (hold on to something).
6. Go nice and slow and transition between one handed and two.
7. Practice more hops, variations, and combos.
Great practice technique. Go into a headstand and practice this motion for hopping. Knees in to chest, soils of shoes facing up at the ceiling, extending only HALFWAY then bringing them back. Knees slightly apart. Practice also brining all of your legs in from a two handed handstand to a one handed pike or nike.
One Handed Handhops - Key idea behind hopping is that you're throwing your legs and hips up in the air, then trying to reposition your arms UNDER you again so you can throw your legs and hips up in the air again.
Elbow Hops - Wear pads. Same exact process as hand hops. Copy and past but add elbows.
Elbow Up - Two key things to remember.
1. ALL tricks require a BLAST of energy at the right time. This move capitalizes on it. Be quick and fast.
2. PUMP LEGS UP and MOVE ARM to WHERE ELBOW IS. Use the free arm to help you climb up.
