To all lovers of classical music

Ms. M, a Junior at music college where I studied, has long wanted me to write a piece for her,
so I decided to gift her a trumpet concerto.

This work uses musical techniques from the early 20th century to evoke the chaotic times of that time and overlap them with the present, portraying the dynamics of modern life.

The first movement of this concerto was composed using a typical sonata form.
The first theme, with its thunderous brass and percussion instruments,
continues to stir the heart with intensity, like a car speeding off-road.

The second theme, by contrast, appears quiet and calm, yet somehow conveys an uneasy impression,
like a starry sky shining in the clear air of a cold winter sky, beautiful yet with a hint of loneliness.

In the development section, the first theme changes to odd time signatures and percussion instruments
are played, building a sense of tension and depicting the struggles we face as we live in modern times.
Then bells are struck, and the second theme floats in like a mirage, leading to the recapitulation.

In the recapitulation, the brass and percussion instruments resonate even more intensely,
leading powerfully into the second theme.
Then, as if to conclude the piece, the second theme appeals to you as a cry from the soul,
and finally, the movement draws to a quiet close, and with a sense of unease.

I hope to be able to release the second movement to the public before the end of the year.



クラシック音楽を愛する皆様へ

私が学んだ音楽専門学校の後輩のＭ氏が、以前より曲を書いて欲しいという事で、今回は、彼女へトランペット協奏曲をプレゼントすることにしました。

この曲は、２０世紀初頭の混沌とした時代をイメージし、現代と重ね合わせ、力強く生きる、今の私たちを描いています。

そして、この協奏曲の第一楽章は、典型的なソナタ形式を用いて作曲しました。第一主題部は、金管楽器や打楽器がとどろき、オフロードを疾走する車の様に、激しく心を揺さぶり続けます。

対照的な第二主題部は、静かで落ち着いているようですが、何となく不安な印象を与え、寒い冬空の澄んだ空気に輝く星空の様に、美しくも一抹の寂しさを感じさせます。

展開部では、第一主題が変拍子を伴い、打楽器が打ち鳴らされ、さらに緊迫感を増し、現代を生きる私たちの葛藤が描かれていきます。そして鐘が打ち鳴らされ、その後、第二主題が幻影の様に漂い、再現部へと誘います。

再現部では、更に激しく金管楽器や打楽器が響き合い、力強く第二主題へと導きます。そして曲の最後を締めくくるように、第二主題が、今度は魂の叫びとなって訴え掛け、最後、静かに、そして何か不安を感じながら、この楽章の幕を閉じます。

年内には、第二楽章を公開できればと思っています。
