The East Deck viaduct is a significant part of the HS2 M6 South viaduct, a twin-deck structure over the M6 motorway near Birmingham Airport. In September 2025, the 230m long East Deck was slid into place over the motorway using a series of winches and non-stick pads at a speed of approximately 10 metres per hour, reopening the M6 ahead of schedule. The viaduct will eventually be extended to 320m and feature a parallel West Deck to accommodate another pair of high-speed tracks.
Please note - This area is in a red no fly zone Birmingham Airport permission was obtained before the flight with the air traffic control tower .
