Jaguar were criticised by many in replacing the E-Type with the much more conservative XJ-S. Finally some 21 years later in 1996 Jaguar responded with the launch of the XK8 and 370bhp supercharged XKR, cars which tried to emanate the E-Type shape in a more up to date package.
