Jim Shooter was at one time the most powerful man in comics. As Editor-in-Chief of Marvel Comics from 1978 to 1987, he helped guide some of the greatest comic stories to the stands. Prior to that, he was a wunderkind writer for DC comics and afterward, he went on to found several independent comic publishers. Valiant, Defiant, and Broadway comics all came under his stewardship.
