I picked one of these up from a guy in the state here, but the more I look at it the more I think it was one of the Buds Gun shop sale ones that they had for $119. The guy I got it from just couldn't stand the sight of it and I have to admit it was pretty ugly. I had seen nutnfancy refinish a mosin stock using minwax "golden oak" and it looked great so I had always wanted to do a mosin with that stain. This mosin though didn't feel like it could pull that off. First off I wanted to keep it somewhat historically correct so I didn't want to do a real light finish. I think you'll see that what I chose came out excellent. It looks 100x better than it did, but still shows lots of signs of wear and use. To me it looks perfect. Nice enough to show off, but beat up enough to tell a million stories.
