0:00 Parle plus bas (speak softly love) - théme d'amour du film "Le Parrain" / R. Gerbeau / Face 1-1
Lyrics:
Me dans nos coeurs moi j'ai trouvé
Ce que le monde refusait de nous donner
2:48 Come live your life with me - valse du film "Le Parrain" / R. Gerbeau / Face 1-2.
Lyrics:
No one can buy tomorrow
No one can sell their sorrow
But when you look into my eyes
Darling, you'll always see
Love, I will give you love
Come live your life with me
We'll have our good times and even in sad times
With love we will find a way
Nothing else matters but loving each other
The way that we do today
Here in our world together
Love will go on forever
Warm in the shelter of my arms
Darling, you'll always be
Loved, I will give you love
Come live your life with me
Here in our world together
Love will go on forever
Warm in the shelter of my arms
Darling, you'll always be
Loved, I will give you love
Come live your life with me
Come live your life with me
Come live your life with me

8:48 I have but one heart (o' marenariello) - du film "Le Parrain" / R. Gerbeau / Face B-2.
Lyrics:
I have but one heart, this heart I bring you
I have but one heart to share with you
I have but one dream that I can cling to
You are the one dream I pray comes true
My darling, until I saw you, I never felt this way
And nobody else before you, ever has heard me say
You are my one love, my life I live for you
I have but one heart to give to you
Vicin’ o mare, facimm' ammore
Acor’ a core, pe'ce spassá
Só marenare, e tiro 'a rezza
Ma p'allaraza, stong' a murí
You are my one love, my love I live for you
I have but one heart to give to you
Vicin’ o mare, facimm' ammore
Acor’ a core, pe'ce spassá
Só marenare, e tiro 'a rezza
Ma p'allaraza, stong' a murí
From the 1972 French LP on Pathé Marconi. Subtitle 'musique originale du film' on the front is extremely misleading here, as it is not a French print of the original US score by Nino Rota, Carmine Coppola and Carlo Savina, but re-orchestrated. The back expands upon this with 'ainsi que d'autres films célèbres'. As so many records of that year, this album took the name of the movie or one of it's songs for a title; Even though most of them were not related. In this case, they went with the French movie name and subtitled in English: Le Parrain "the godfather".
This is a trilingual album in mostly French, some English and a bit of Neapolitan. Then there are also instrumental tracks without vocals. While the sleeve tells us that Roland Gerbeau sings three of these four songs, the orchestra or recording personnel, as well as the arrangers are not listed, unfortunately. Other tracks on the album do have this info...
Parle Plus Bas is the French adaptation from Boris Bergman of Speak Softly Love from Larry Kusik, that's track 1 face ("side") 1. Dalida released her version prior, with Tino Rossi and Marie Laforêt following among many others. An instrumental version appears as track 1-2. with a harmonica as the lead instrument in place of the vocals. Though it's a bit unlucky that they chose the exact same title for both versions - Despite them being the same base recording. The original score pieces were Love Theme From The Godfather and Apollonia from Rota as written for the film, but previously based on an older melody of his for the movie Fortunella.
Come Life Your Life With Me too is a lyrical adaptation from Larry Kusik and Billy Meshel for track 2-1., here in English. Spanish and (partially) Italian ones also exist as demonstrated by Al Martino, Vic Damone and Estela Reval. But a French one does not exist, as far as I have been aware... Those original score pieces were The Godfather Waltz or Main Title, again written by Rota for the film.
I Have But One Heart is track 2-2. is another English adaption, by Johnny Farrow and Marty Symes. The original was a late 1800s Neapolitan language serenade called O 'Marenariello by Salvatore Gambardella and Gennaro Ottaviano. Roland's title of I have but one heart ('o marenariello) reflects just that. It relates to the first Godfather movie because the character Johnny Fontane, portrayed by Al Martino, sings it at Connie's wedding.
