🌞 Shri Suryamandalashtakam : Sanskrit Shloka with English Translation
🕉 Shloka 1

नमः सवित्रे जगदेकचक्षुषे जगत्प्रसूतिस्थितिनाशहेतवे ।
त्रयीमयाय त्रिगुणात्मधारिणे विरञ्चिनारायणशङ्करात्मने ॥१॥

English Meaning –
O Sun God! You are the only eye of the whole universe. You are the cause of creation, preservation, and destruction. You are full of the three Vedas and embody the three gunas. You are the very soul of Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh.

🕉 Shloka 2

यन्मण्डलं दीप्तिकरं विशालं रत्नप्रभं तीव्रमनादिरूपम्।
दारिद्र्यदुःखक्षयकारणं च पुनातु मां तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यम् ॥२॥

English Meaning –
That great, radiant, jewel-like, beginningless and supremely effulgent solar sphere, which destroys poverty and sorrow – may that purify me.

🕉 Shloka 3

यन्मण्डलं देवगणैः सुपूजितं विप्रैः स्तुतं भावनमुक्तिकोविदम् ।
तं देवदेवं प्रणमामि सूर्यं पुनातु मां तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यम् ॥३॥

English Meaning –
That solar sphere which is well worshipped by the hosts of gods, praised by the Brahmins, and bestows devotion, meditation, and liberation – I bow to that Lord of the gods, Surya. May he purify me.

🕉 Shloka 4

यन्मण्डलं ज्ञानघनं त्वगम्यं त्रैलोक्यपूज्यं त्रिगुणात्मरूपम्।
समस्ततेजोमयदिव्यरूपं पुनातु मां तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यम् ॥४॥

English Meaning –
That which is the ocean of knowledge, beyond the reach of the senses, worshipped by the three worlds, and of the form of the three gunas – that divine radiant form may purify me.

🕉 Shloka 5

यन्मण्डलं गूढमतिप्रबोधं धर्मस्य वृद्धिं कुरुते जनानाम् ।
यत्सर्वपापक्षयकारणं च पुनातु मां तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यम् ॥५॥

English Meaning –
That solar sphere which awakens deep intellect, increases dharma among people, and is the cause of destruction of all sins – may that purify me.

🕉 Shloka 6

यन्मण्डलं व्याधिविनाशदक्षं यदृग्यजुः सामसु संप्रगीतम् ।
प्रकाशितं येन च भूर्भुवः स्वः पुनातु मां तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यम् ॥६॥

English Meaning –
That which is capable of destroying diseases, sung in the Rig, Yajur, and Sama Vedas, and by whose grace the realms of Bhuh, Bhuvah, and Svah are illuminated – may that purify me.

यन्मण्डलं वेदविदो वदन्ति गायन्ति यच्चारणसिद्धसंघाः ।
यद्योगिनो योगजुषां च संघाः पुनातु मां तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यम् ॥७॥

English Meaning –
That whose glory is declared by the knowers of the Vedas, sung by the Charanas and Siddhas, and meditated upon by yogis – that solar sphere may purify me.

🕉 Shloka 8

यन्मण्डलं सर्वजनेषु पूजितं ज्योतिश्च कुर्यादिह मर्त्यलोके ।
यत्कालकल्पक्षयकारणं च पुनातु मां तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यम् ॥८॥

English Meaning –
That which is worshipped by all people, which gives light in this mortal world, and which is the cause of the end of time and cycles – may that solar sphere purify me.

🕉 Shloka 9

यन्मण्डलं विश्वसृजां प्रसिद्धम् उत्पत्तिरक्षाप्रलयप्रगल्भम् ।
यस्मिञ्जगत्संहरतेऽखिलं च पुनातु मां तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यम् ॥९॥

English Meaning –
That which is renowned among the creators of the universe, powerful in creation, preservation, and dissolution, and in which the whole universe is absorbed – may that purify me.

यन्मण्डलं सर्वगतस्य विष्णोरात्मापरं धाम विशुद्धतत्त्वम् ।
सूक्ष्मान्तरैर्योगपथानुगम्यं पुनातु मां तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यम् ॥१०॥

English Meaning –
That which is the very soul of the all-pervading Vishnu, the supreme abode and pure essence, and attainable through subtle meditation on the path of yoga – may that solar sphere purify me.

यन्मण्डलं वेदविदो वदन्ति गायन्ति यच्चारणसिद्धसंघाः ।
यन्मण्डलं वेदविदः स्मरन्ति पुनातु मां तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यम् ॥११॥

English Meaning –
That solar sphere which the knowers of the Vedas praise with speech, which the Charanas and Siddhas sing, and which the Vedic scholars remember constantly – may that purify me.

यन्मण्डलं वेदविदोपगीतं यद्योगिनां योगपथानुगम्यम् ।
तत्सर्ववेदं प्रणमामि सूर्यं पुनातु मां तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यम् ॥१२॥

English Meaning –
That solar sphere which is sung by the Vedic scholars, attained by yogis on the path of meditation, and is the essence of all the Vedas – to that Surya I bow. May he purify me.

That man who daily recites this “Suryamandalashtakam” becomes purified from all sins and is gloriously established in the realm of Surya.
