In Mixed Reality there is often a highly understandable desire to capture the “ground truth” and to represent it in its entirety. A typically strong belief is that the greater the amount of resolution, the better potential sense of immersion. This talk will discuss work being undertaken to explore auditory selective attention to make mixed reality as engaging and intuitive as possible.
Dr Iain McGregor is Associate Professor in Sound Design at Edinburgh Napier University. He runs the Centre for Interaction’s Auralisation suite, which utilises a custom 28.4 channel surround sound rig for conducting listening experiments. Current projects range from XR dance through to data sonification and developing a novel method for capturing hearing abilities.
