Today, in our sports encyclopedia series we will talk about Cross Ball.
The Cross Ball game involves players competing on an elliptical field with a tennis ball.
The basic objective of cross ball is to score as many goals as possible.
The game takes place on an elliptical field that is of length 51 yards and width 20 yards.
There is a 10 yard line between the goal and the halfway line which marks the area where opponents cannot step or pass without defense, otherwise, it is offside.
The game is played with a tennis ball that must be 2.9 inches in diameter.
Each team consists of 8 players and there are five positions in each team.
The positions in the team are goalkeeper, defenders, center, wingers, and attacker.
The game takes place in six periods where each period lasts for 9 minutes.
The basic objective of the game for each player is to score goals by putting the ball through the opponent’s goal post.
When a player gains possession of the ball, they cannot move or pivot.
A player should remain still for 10 seconds and failure to do so will give possession to the opponent.
The players are allowed to pass the ball among each other to drive the ball inside the goal post.
Players are not allowed to engage with each other physically or cause obstruction in the field.
The team that scores the most goals is declared as the winner.
If the game ends in a draw, overtime will be played in extra 15 minutes in 1 game.
