I walk through some of the demonstrations set up at the Shadytel Midwest CO exhibit at VCFMW.
Special thanks to trmg, maldridge, xhausted110, Hooloovoo, DrDeke, vcfkyle, and several other unnamed volunteers for their assistance in planning, preparation, setup, running the exhibit, and teardown.

With cable plant reaching nearly to the far extremes of the venue coupled with our 14ft+ antenna tower in the CO, we have the largest exhibit at the show in all 3 dimensions running a functional traditional wireline telephone network. Other co-located telephone companies include Incompetel providing wireless telephone, pager, and high speed data ADSL2+ services as well as Sneakynet providing wireless high speed data (wifi) as well as hosting a few other dialable telephone services (Coldline game, cat facts and frog tips numbers).
In the video, I cover some of the equipment used to run and demonstrate the network located in the CO such as:
-outside plant cabling and telephone poles
-the Meridian 1 PBX used for most of the subscriber services
-a talking clock for a time number (Incompetel)
-the MDF
-HDSL carrier equipment for subscriber T1 trunks
-the Cisco ISRs used for tandem and subscriber trunk switching as well as PPP data services
-Polycom ISDN videoconference phones (Rustytel)
-an acoustic coupler modem demo
-various phones
-Coldline IVR game (Hosted by Sneakynet, IVR written by UTD Media Archaeology Lab https://impact.utdallas.edu/project/4... )
-an IVR system and transmitter for POCSAG paging (Incompetel)
-various ACD sets and an attendant console for telephone company operator services and support queues
-an SDR for AMPS service (Incompetel)
-a printer for printing novelty bills (billing system written and designed by Sneakynet)
Not pictured: Step switch demo (Incompetel), wifi and internet access equipment (Sneakynet), meshtastic repeater (Sneakynet), Cisco 25XX routers and T1 DSU/CSUs leased to customers for T1 data access, DSL modems (Incompetel), leased telephones and modems.
A full writeup will eventually be available here ( http://www.dms-100.net/computers/VCFM... ) covering all aspects of the network. This information has been updated to an as-built state, but I still have a big writeup to do including statistics on subscribers and their services.
