What Does It Really Take to Prepare for a Concert?

With only one week until my Oceans concert, I threw myself into hours of daily practice—determined to be ready for this one special night. But just days before the performance, I pushed too hard and injured my right wrist with tendonitis. Suddenly I was facing every artist’s nightmare: would I even be able to play?

I tried everything—hot wax baths, KT tape, oils, rest—before finally going to the doctor, who prescribed steroids to help me heal in time. At dress rehearsal I saved my right hand and relied on left-hand practice while we scrambled to adjust orchestra tracks, just in case.

Meanwhile, the pressure to sell out loomed large, but as concert day arrived, the hall filled to capacity. Stepping onstage, I realized the dream had come true. And with my co-producer Glen Gabriel surprising me by flying in from Sweden, it was the perfect way to close the Oceans chapter.
