I've used this weathering method on my TSS Harley Quinn dress as well. HEADS UP - acrylic paint does stiffen the fabric, so if that's not the effect you might go for I would suggest doing this using RitDye (that has a synthetic-friendly version as well), but I don't find the stiffness of the fabric too bad as it helps it look more crusty and like it's been through some shit.
If you're specifically cosplaying Jennifer and planning on doing pool shoots you might need to redo some of the weathering as the water might fade it.
