A fairly new and remote trek route in Upper-Manang District. NaarPhu Valley trek was promoted in early-2000's when the two hidden villages were discovered by expeditions groups climbing Mount Kangguru in west of Mt. Manaslu and Himlung Himal further up-north near Tibet.
It is still remote and remains fairly the same as it was for generations before. It used to be camping trek only a few years ago. Now some hotels are erupting and the local people are flourishing economically via the small amount of trekkers who make their way in-to this valley.
Although, I must say, a lot has changed since the bloom of Yarsagumba some 15-20 years ago in this region of Nepal. People are better off. Now most people have connections in Kathmandu and abroad.
The houses are still very-very exotic. The climate, the atmosphere, their culture and their way of life is still exotic. Its remote and sits about 4000m.
Landscape wise, an amazing gate-away on-route to Manang.
So much yet to be learned and explored.

NaarPhu was in my mind during planning stage. I had thought of having to camp all four days because I wasn't sure about the hotels that were available by 2017.
I had four days worth of food. I was blessed to see hotels in Meta, Phu and back up in Naar. and a few more on-route which still needed a boost.

This region on Nepal still remains highly restricted to foreigners who need to pay special permits and have a guide to enter the valley.
To be honest, I was sort of scared as I registered myself and crossed that first bridge. It took me 4-5 hours when I arrived Meta, my planned campsite. Along the way, I came across two hotels fairy stretched. I was planning to camp in Meta. The final climb to the village on top was freaking insanely tiring. I walk 11hrs today.

I had wanted to trek across Nepal since the days I went for my first trek in Langtang Valley and Gosaikund. As I did more studies on walks across the country, I came across the Great Himalayan Trail and it had been stuck in my mind ever since, 2015.
As I did more visual research, it was not possible for me to find a good record of somebody who had done it. I had read alot of journals and stories but videos were very hard to find.
My plan was to film as much as possible with regard to my safety on the trail as I would be alone most of the time. I didn't know how I would make the story but filming the most out of the trail was my only idea. I wanted to document the trek.
The idea of narrating came during the editing process...

This is part III on my walk from Gorkha to Mugu in Nepal.
The remaining to the Great Himalayan Trail is now under-planning. It is a few years down the line, when I am hoping to get it done, once again, Solo.
