John Fullerton - A New Era of Economics for Living Systems Requires a Shift in Consciousness

This presentation was part of the 2024 Nova Annual Conference on the " New Horizons: Toward an Era of Global Flourishing” which explored transformative strategies with deeper awareness to promote collective growth and sustainable flourishing across all sectors of society. We considered the critical investments needed across many sectors—health, economics, agriculture, food systems, and the interconnected systems that support healthy physical and social environments—to build thriving global societies. As the source of all life, energy was a central theme. This includes the cellular energy vital for personal flourishing, the sustainable energy systems required for flourishing societies, and the transformative energy of human consciousness necessary for global change.

About the presenter:

John Fullerton is an unconventional economist, teacher, writer, impact investor, and some have said philosopher. He is considered the architect of regenerative economics and its companion, regenerative finance, built on a foundation of complex adaptive living systems science and first presented in his book, Regenerative Capitalism (2015). John is the founder of the Capital Institute, dedicated to the bold reimagination of economics and finance, aligned with and in service to life. He is also the co-founder of Grasslands, LLC, a board member of the Savory Institute, and a member of the Club of Rome. He teaches two online courses with an alumni base of more than 1500 leaders from 75 countries and speaks internationally to public audiences and universities. John was featured in the 2021 award-winning documentary, Going Circular.
