This is a scale model of the water filtration plant in Boulder City, NV. The actual building is located at 300 Railroad Ave, Boulder City, NV 89005.
This model illustrates what the building may have looked like in the mid-1930's. It was constructed in 1931 at a cost of $95,000, and put into service in Feb 1932.
River water was pumped up to the plant from the Colorado River. Hoover Dam was not yet built. There was no Lake Mead at the time. The water filtration plant was built to serve the workers of the Hoover Dam and new city of Boulder City.
There were 5,000 citizens in Boulder City in 1932. The plant processed 18 million gallons per month. That provided 120 gallons per citizen, per day.
