This is the first in a series of four warmup and practice sessions that Steven Mead gave on Facebook LIVE through his Steven Mead Euphonium Club Page on Wednesday 15th April 2020.
After the introductions and welcomes Steven analyses the situation that many people find themselves in terms of their practice routines, how to overcome bad habits, and sets about it by outlining some basic issues that can easily be addressed with patience and understanding. Then some routines with breathing, stretching, mouthpiece buzzing, lip 'flapping', first warm-ups, ensuring quality of sound, relaxation, focused and positivity! It also begins the topic of lip flexibility, set concentrating on airflow, smoothness and direction, and then the final section is getting the tongue responsive with clear single tongue action, and one or two introductory exercises for this.
