In this video we go looking for the abandoned mills in the valley. The valley is Ashworth valley Heywood, Rochdale Lancashire. The valley is created by the Naden brook. The mills are early 19th century remains of Coal bank mill and Ashworth mill. Once fulling mills they later became cotton mills. They were the original Lancashire cotton spinning mills. We also look briefly at evidence of mining in the Lancashire coal field. In our historic countryside walk we encounter some beautiful English countryside. This video is about the Industrial history of Manchester and Lancashire.
