The Harry Potter series is filled with hundreds of characters. We meet students, Hogwarts staff, Ministry employees, and more. It's been stated that in any given year at Hogwarts, there are roughly 1,000 students in attendance. Of course, we don't know all of the names from Harry's time at school, but we do know some. We get to experience the first sorting ceremony along with Harry and a few others.
Years after the series ended, JKR posted on Pottermore a list of the original 40 students who were to be in Harry's class. Today we are going to dive into these names and see how many were used and how many were left in the background.
