i see ppl are still finding this and i would like to say that i am in NO WAY trying to defend pedophilia + grooming w this video.

all of the captions abt lydia being his “underage gf” were jokes referencing the song from the musical. im not trying to push some agenda to normalize pedophilia or whatever.

i WAS and STILL am fully aware that this ship has a weird ass age gap that should not be normalized. i get that maybe i should’ve put a disclaimer b4 posting this, but in my defense i kind of just assumed the fictional ship itself wasn’t that serious and that ppl wouldnt use it as an excuse to checks notes defend full ass pedophilia?? my account has NEVER been a safe space for pedophiles and their sympathizers. i have said this many, many times.

consuming media critically means acknowledging the problematic themes in things and recognizing when something is objectively wrong. you can still enjoy that media and even ships, but you need to able to understand the messages and themes the media you consume conveys. i was already fully aware of the fact that a relationship like beetlyds was not normal or ok to want to replicate irl, but i understand if it came across differently since i never posted a disclaimer saying that’s what i knew.

granted i don’t think i should have to bc i think it’s common sense but whatever. let the record state that i know how to consume media critically and still have fun while doing so. at the end of the day, this is a ship of 2 characters who haven’t been utilized in years. hell, it seems like the fandom is deader than BJ.
