University and Higher Education has been the main focus of design education research meaning less attention is paid to earlier stages of learning (both K12 and early years).
This perhaps reflects the fact that design as a subject rarely features in curricula in many countries until later stages. Even then, it is rarely treated as seriously as core traditional subjects.
But this is not the case in every country.
Ingvild Digranes, Western Norway University of Applied Sciences and Liv Merete Nielsen, Oslo Metropolitan University, will discuss design in early years education in Norway and issues in creating national design curricula.
