RV Lithium Battery Upgrade: Powering Long Travel Days and Beyond! (Part 2)

In Part 2 of our RV battery upgrade series, I dive into the steps for preparing our RV power system for new Renogy Pro Smart Lithium batteries, Renogy One Core, Renogy 60A MPPT Solar Controller, and Renogy 300 Shunt installation.

We start by safely shutting off DC power, removing the existing lead-acid batteries, and replacing the old charge controller with a new 60AMP charge controller. You’ll see how we removed the previous charge controller, spliced past it, and covered the gap with a custom 3D-printed panel, ensuring a clean look.

As this RV solar power project evolved, I decided to expand our RV solar setup with additional solar panels, which led to upgrading from a 40AMP to a 60AMP MPPT controller. For added safety, I also installed an MC4 fuse. This setup is all about boosting our RV’s power efficiency for extended off-grid stays.
