Vatican Papal Audience – Pilgrimage Account

Before dawn had even broken, our group was already preparing to leave.
We were scheduled to board the bus at 7:00 a.m., but the dining hall only opened at 6:30. Everyone hurried through breakfast, barely taking the time to chew.

Every Wednesday is Papal Audience Day:

9:30 a.m. – The Pope makes his entrance
10:00 a.m. – Holy Mass

Hoping to secure good seats, we set out early. Yet the roads were completely congested; tour buses streamed continuously toward the Vatican. We had no choice but to wait patiently, and it took nearly an hour before we finally arrived.

At the entrance, crowds were already packed tightly together. Security checks were required, but there were too few staff members, so we were pushed along slowly by the surging crowd. When we eventually reached St. Peter’s Square, all the seats had already been taken, and the front area was filled with people standing shoulder to shoulder.

Pilgrims from South America, North America, Africa, and Asia had all gathered, coming together for this once-in-a-millennium Jubilee Year pilgrimage. Though we could not understand the Italian being spoken, the atmosphere was indescribably moving. Tens of thousands of faithful praying together created a profound sense of unity and devotion.

In that moment, we truly felt:
Glory to God in the highest, and peace to his people on earth.

天色尚未破晓，我们一行人便准备出发。因为7点要上车，而餐厅6点半才开门，大家只得匆匆吞下简单的早餐。

每逢星期三是教宗接见日：

9点30分教宗入场
10点举行弥撒

为了能有座位，我们特地提早出发。然而一路上车潮汹涌，旅行车一辆接一辆往梵蒂冈方向前进，我们只能耐心在堵塞的车阵中前行。将近一小时后才抵达目的地。

来到入口处，眼前早已挤满人群。还需经过严格安检，但工作人员不多，于是我们在人潮推动中慢慢往前移动。终于踏入圣伯多禄广场，却发现座位早已被占满，前排也站得水泄不通。

来自南美洲、北美洲、非洲、亚洲的朝圣者齐聚一堂，只为在这千禧年跨世纪的时刻，一同朝拜天主。虽然我们听不懂意大利语，但当时的氛围难以言喻：数以万计的信友同心祈祷，现场充满信德、热情与感恩。

那一刻，我们深深体会到：
荣耀归于天主！愿天主永受赞美！主爱的人永享平安!
