These honestly turned out much better than I expected and the cost was substantially less than the "correct" cover replacement.
You can do these covers for the simple investment of about $15 in the vinyl material. I already had the glue and chose to add the aluminum strip as an accent as well as a way to ensure that the vinyl didn't lift off of the edge.
2023 Prices sit at:
$15 - Vinyl Runner (Home Depot TrafficMaster wide ribbed floor protector)
$19 - Weldwood Contact Cement
$72 - 2 Aluminum Strips at 1/2" x 96" (optional)
$106 total for both running boards
