Nato's Rutte Warns Allies They Are Russia's Next Target

Europe is Russia’s next target, and should prepare for conflict on the scale the Second World War, Nato’s secretary general has warned.
“Conflict is at our door. Russia has brought war back to Europe. And we must be prepared,” Mark Rutte said, adding that Russia could be ready to use military force against the alliance within five years.
He was speaking after Ukraine sent a proposal to President Trump on territorial concessions it would be prepared to make to end the war against Russia.
Friedrich Merz, the German chancellor, said the proposal was sent after he and other European leaders had spoken by phone with Trump on Wednesday and that they would “finalise the documents together with the American government over the weekend”.
