European Robin Crochet Tutorial - Updated Version

In this crochet tutorial, we make a European Robin. 🐦 I just updated this pattern (in 2025) to enhance the symmetry of the red chest. It now matches the written PDF pattern (links below).
This bird amigurumi project is ideal for intermediate and practised crocheters! We're crocheting with up to three colours at the same time.

MATERIALS AND TOOLS 🧶
Light worsted (DK/size 3) or Sport (Fingering/size 2) cotton yarn in rusty red, light brown, gray and white
[I used Scheepjes Catona in Hazelnut, Rust, Anthracite, and Bridal White]
2.5 mm crochet hook (size B-1 or C-2), depending on how tightly you crochet
5 mm safety eyes or black embroidery floss
Fiberfill
Stitch marker
Yarn needle
Scissors
12 inches (30 cm) craft wire AWG 18 (1 mm thick) (optional)
Small flat pliers (optional)
