It Is Finished | John 19:16b | 9.28.25

At Golgotha, the climactic moment of human history unfolds. Though Rome and the Jewish leaders mocked Him as a criminal, Jesus is lifted up as the true King — enthroned on a cross, crowned with thorns, declared in three languages for the world to see.

Every detail, from the soldiers casting lots for His garment (Psalm 22:18) to the sour wine on a hyssop branch (Psalm 69:21), fulfills Scripture. In His dying words, "It is finished" (tetelestai), Jesus announces not defeat but triumph: redemption accomplished, prophecy completed, salvation secured.

Even in death, He remains sovereign — bowing His head in rest and giving up His spirit (John 10:18). The Son of Man who had nowhere to lay His head finally finds rest in completing the Father’s will.

This passage calls us to see Christ as He truly is:
👉 The King lifted up.
👉 The Scriptures fulfilled.
👉 The family of faith formed at the cross.
👉 The plan of salvation finished forever.

Will you rest in His finished work, live as family at the foot of the cross, and trust the One who reigns even in death?
