Michael Jackson has arrived in Britain in superstar-style, apparently suffering from a sore throat.

The controversial singer arrived from New York on a Concorde supersonic airliner at London's Heathrow airport on Thursday evening.

The reason for his impromptu visit to Britain is unknown - he's not scheduled to hold any concerts or shows.

The fact that he was suffering from a sore throat and apparently unable to speak, has prompted speculation he may have come to England seeking medical treatment.

Superstar Michael Jackson has arrived in Britain on an unexpected visit.

Becoming his status as the king of pop, he landed at London's Heathrow airport on a supersonic Concorde from New York.

Braving the bitter cold that has swept the country in the past weeks an uneasy-looking Jackson appeared wearing a black hat, military style uniform, and a cloth mask covering most of his face.

To the crowd of waiting reporters and cameramen, Jackson indicated he was unable to speak by pointing at his throat.

Though speechless he was still able to communicate.

Asked if he was pleased to be in Britain, he nodded his head.

And when asked if he had any message for his fans, he simply brought his hands together as if praying that they would wish him well in his battle to recover from his sore throat.

Escorted by burly bodyguards, Jackson left the airport for an unknown destination.

Jackson has no scheduled performances in Britain and the real purpose of his visit was not disclosed.
