Today I’m drawing a magnolia branch with two flowers and small buds, using a glass dip pen and India ink in a classic pen and ink style.
This technique is very easy to adopt, even if you’re new to inking.
The process is based on simple outlining and using lines to build shadows, rather than complex rendering or heavy fills.
If you’ve ever felt intimidated by pen and ink, this is a gentle, approachable way to start while still achieving a clean, elegant result.
Materials
• Glass dip pen (or any pen you have in hand)
• India ink or acrylic ink
• Drawing paper
