জাপানের হাতে আরেকটি মেগাপ্রকল্প মেয়াদের আগেই চালুর সম্ভাবনা | Bangabandhu Rail Bridge

বদলে যাবে ১২ জেলার রেল যোগাযোগ

যমুনা নদীর ওপর বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিব রেলওয়ে সেতুর নির্মাণ কাজ ২০২৪ সালের মধ্যে শেষ করার আশা প্রকাশ করেছে রেল মন্ত্রণালয়।

বিদ্যমান যমুনা সেতুর ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ অবস্থার কারণে বর্তমানে ট্রেনগুলো নদী পার হতে আধা ঘণ্টা সময় লাগে। এছাড়া নিরাপত্তা নিশ্চিত করার জন্য ব্রডগেজ ট্রেনগুলোকে সেতুতে চলাচলের অনুমতি দেওয়া হয় না।

তবে বঙ্গবন্ধু রেলওয়ে সেতুটি নদী পার হওয়ার সময় পাঁচ মিনিটে নামিয়ে আনবে। এই সেতুতে ট্রেনকে ১০০ কিলোমিটার গতিতে চলাচলের অনুমতি দেওয়া হবে। ব্রিজটি ব্রডগেজ ট্রেনকেও পারাপার করতে দেবে।

বঙ্গবন্ধু রেলওয়ে সেতুতে প্রথমবারের মতো স্লিপার ব্যবহার করা হবে না। এই সেতুতে ট্রেন চলবে স্টিলের গার্ডারে।

বঙ্গবন্ধু রেলওয়ে সেতু প্রকল্প বাস্তবায়ন করছে বাংলাদেশ রেলওয়ে।

Rail travel over the Jamuna River is set to become significantly faster with the expected completion of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Railway Bridge in 2024.

Due to the risky condition of the existing Jamuna Bridge, trains currently need half an hour to trundle across the river. Furthermore, broad-gauge trains are not allowed to operate on the bridge in order to ensure safety.

On the other hand, the Bangabandhu Railway Bridge will allow trains to travel across the river at over 100kmph, cutting down the river-crossing time to around five minutes. The bridge will also allow broad-gauge trains to cross.

The rail line across the Bangabandhu Railway Bridge will be the first in the country that does not use sleepers. The trains will run on steel girders.

Bangladesh Railway is implementing the Bangabandhu Railway Bridge Project.
