➜ In this step-by-step tutorial, I'll walk you through the entire process of adding a custom engine sound from Zee Mods into American Truck Simulator. Whether you're new to mods or just want that premium sound on your favorite rig, this guide has you covered!
➜ Step 1: Download the Zee Mods Engine Sound
Go to the official Zee Mods website: www.zeemods.com
Choose the engine sound mod you want paid or free.
After purchase or download, you'll get a .zip or .scs file.

➜ Step 2: Install the Mod into ATS
Open the folder where the .zip or .scs file downloaded.
Do not extract it if it ends in .scs — ATS reads .scs files directly.
Move the .scs file into your mod folder:
Documents. American Truck Simulator.mod

➜ Step 3: Activate the Mod in the Game
Launch American Truck Simulator.
Go to Mod Manager.
Find the Zee Mods engine sound and enable it by moving it to the right column.
Confirm and continue into the game.

➜ Step 4: Apply the Engine Sound to a Truck
Go to a truck dealer or service shop.
Select a truck that is compatible with the sound mod.
Under the engine options, find the engine listed with Zee Mods branding or a custom name.
Select and install the engine with the new sound.

➜ Bonus: Add the Sound to Other Trucks Editing def files
Go to your ATS mod folder and extract the .scs file using 7-Zip or WinRAR.
Open the def folder, then navigate to vehicle | truck.
Find or create a subfolder for the truck you want to add the engine to, like: peterbilt.389
Copy an existing engine .sii file and rename it for the new truck.
Open the file in Notepad
Update the include paths and engine data to match the new truck’s internal name.
Make sure the torque curves and sound references point to the Zee Mods sound files.
Save your changes, re-pack the mod as a .scs file using 7-Zip.
Place the updated .scs file back into your mod folder.

Always back up files before editing.
Make sure your game is fully updated.
Double check your mod load order if something isn’t working right.
Not all trucks are fully compatible some trial and error may be needed.
