Scenic Drive to Fingringhoe Wick Nature Reserve
Join us on a peaceful drive along Wick Lane, leading to the entrance of Fingringhoe Wick Nature Discovery Park in Essex. This video captures the final approach to the reserve, where we paused for a quick rest bite — a coffee and packed lunch — between two tourist stops during our holiday tour of Essex. Although we didn’t have time to explore the reserve itself, the scenic route and entrance area offer a charming glimpse of the countryside. With more time, we’d have loved to stay longer — but the clock was ticking!

About Fingringhoe Wick Nature Discovery Park:
Located near Colchester, Fingringhoe Wick is one of Essex Wildlife Trust’s flagship reserves. Established in 1961, it was the Trust’s first nature reserve and remains a haven for birdwatchers, walkers, and families. The site spans over 200 acres of diverse habitats including saltmarsh, reedbeds, and woodland, supporting species like nightingales, avocets, and waders. The visitor centre and café offer panoramic views over the Colne Estuary.

Getting There:
The reserve is accessed via Wick Lane*, a scenic road branching off *South Green Road near the village of Fingringhoe. Parking is available at the entrance, where the café and visitor centre are located.
