Laos has a colourful but dark history, from colonial times under French rule, to the revolution and then extensive bombing during the Vietnam War.

However there’s also a vibrant culture to explore, from the spicy local food, to the friendly people.

The misso and I spent five days travelling through Laos, spending most of the time in the UNESCO World Heritage listed town of Luang Prabang, and then one day in the capital Vientiane.
