'Heritage Before Paint'-
Early on, hopes were high and anticipation hung heavy in the air that something rare and unexpected would eventually roll through before the day was over. Very little time passed before this next train made its whereabouts known as it began blowing south of town, once again Ray & I made sure that whatever it was, it was getting captured!
Now, I as much as the next person love seeing, let alone getting the opportunity to bag something rare but when I get the chance to share the moment with someone who I know will appreciate and remember it a long time to come, it just makes all the more a great experience!
As I have come to personally experience, olé' Haley holds a very rich history and rarely does she disappoint when it comes to great train action! Upon heading out this morning on our journey, we initially had planned to hit the Sullivan area and see what panned out... Countless times during this day Ray mentioned that he was glad we had decided to skip going to Sullivan and came here.
As I remember it being told, not only was this his first visit to this spot but this was his first honest heritage unit, yes indeed this was a heritage unit before there were a high abundance of them to catch and it was harder to overall spot them due to their paint scheme that blends in with most of the active CSX locomotive roster.
