Challenger 3 | Live Firing Trials

The British Army's incoming new tank - Challenger 3 - has undertaken live firing for the first time.

The first pre-production Challenger 3 was put through its paces after rolling off RBSL's production line in Telford in January 2024.The live qualification firings involve the tank firing rounds at targets over a range of distances to ensure the accuracy of the main gun.

The trials, led by RBSL and Rheinmetall, took place at the Rheinmetall ranges in Germany for consistency with NATO Reference Standards for the new 120mm smoothbore gun and ammunition.
