Yamaha Epic 1971 (Part 3)

This is part 3 of Yamaha's version of On Any Sunday and features a number of legendary riders including: Morris Malone, Kenny Roberts, Dick Mann, Keith Mashburn, Cal Rayborn, Gary Nixon, Gene Romero, Rusty Bradley, Barry Briggs, Don & Chuck Vesco, and many more. Narrated by Canadian actor, Monte Markham and sponsored and produced by Yamaha, it also features an introduction of the new 1971 Yamaha model line, and an overview of the Robert Redford-Michael J. Pollard movie Little Faus and Big Halsy. The film also has a great segment on the wild, 1970 Check Chase desert race, as part of the World of Two Wheels TV show.

When this came out in 1971, Yamaha would check out the film reels to dealers who would then rent auditoriums and theaters or use their own showrooms to show this movie which is clearly biased towards Yamahas. It was fun to watch when it was new in 1971, and it is even more entertaining over 50 years later.

Thank you Yamaha, and thank you to my parents, Bob and Virginia Dillon, owners of Dillon Yamaha in Caldwell, Idaho (1965-1992) who were visionary enough to keep and store a copy of this film for the last five decades! I got it digitized just in time, as the original film reels were starting to come apart, and there is some crackling and fuzziness in places here, but overall it has survived pretty well.
