Electric Surfboards Are ILLEGAL In Canada – Or Are They?

Electric surfboards in Canada--are they legal? Sort of! Electric jetboards ARE legal in Canada, specifically ones that use an impeller (electric jetboards). Things like efoils, which use an exposed or ducted propeller, are explicitly defined as illegal by Transport Canada. When it comes to jetboard legality, impeller vs propeller is an important distinction for what makes an electric surfboard legal under watercraft rules.
