The Aeronautics and Astronautics Museum, also known as the "Air Museum", is a National and State-owned Museum.
Dependent on the Ministry of Defense through the Historical and Cultural Service of the Air Force (SHYCEA).
Created by Decree on June 16, 1966, it was initially located in the Ministry of Air building (current Air Headquarters, Moncloa). In 1975 it was decided to move it to Cuatro Vientos, cradle of Spanish Military Aviation, officially inaugurating on May 24, 1981.
Its main purposes are to show the history of Aviation, the military contributions to the progress of aeronautics, enhance the culture of defense and national security, as well as its research.
The Museum occupies an area of 66,938 m², divided between seven hangars and eight open-air platforms that house more than 160 aircraft
