Ranveer Singh’s new Bollywood film Dhurandhar has run into controversy just days before its scheduled release. The family of late Major Mohit Sharma has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court demanding that the film be stopped, alleging that it appears to draw inspiration from the officer’s life and covert missions without family consent. They argue this could violate posthumous personality rights, breach privacy, and potentially raise national security concerns.
Director Aditya Dhar has denied any link between Dhurandhar and Major Sharma, promising that future biopics will be made only with approval from families and the Indian Army.
Meanwhile, Noreen Aslam—widow of slain Sindh Police officer Chaudhry Aslam—has criticized the film for allegedly misrepresenting her husband and portraying Rehman Dakait as a hero, along with a vague depiction of the PPP. She has warned of legal action if any defamatory portrayal appears in the film.
Starring Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, and Sanjay Dutt, Dhurandhar is set to release on December 5, but ongoing legal disputes have cast doubt on its premiere.
