Words often fall short in describing the beauty of the Jaguar F-type coupe. In person its absolutely breathtaking, a perfect blend of beauty and aggression, the long nose flows smoothly into the sloping rear. This is a vehicle that I could legitimately spend hours just staring at. And you know what makes it even better? An excellent drivetrain. The top level V8R comes with a 5.0L Supercharged V8 that produces 550 hp and 502 lb-ft of torque. In RWD form weighting about 3900 lbs, the V8R gets to 60 in a 3.6 seconds.

Jaguar has now added the option of a manual transmission to the f-type, and as much as we love shifting through the gears ourselves, there is something to be said about a brilliant automatic. This ZF 8 speed is excellent, you can find it in a ridiculous range of vehicles. From cars like the Dodge Charger, BMW 5 series or Range Rover all the way to the Bentley Mulsanne and Rolls Royce Wraith. It is responsive, allowing for quick upshifts and downshifts, the shear number of gears means that improved efficiency leads to an acceptable 16 mpg city and 23 highway given the fact that theres a huge supercharged V8 in this car.

Coming back to the engine, the sound it makes is unbelievable. With the selectable active exhaust, the noise coming from the back of this car could literally wake the dead, it crackles and pops all the time, definitely not a good car to pick if you want to be stealthy. Unless you are profoundly deaf, this car will make you giggle like a 12 year old. It is utterly intoxicating, you just want to downshift and accelerate, and hear that engine sing.

As great as the F-type looks and sounds, its driving dynamics are equally good. Flip the car into dynamic mode, the throttle response sharpens, dampers become firmer, steering feel is heavier and shifts become even faster. Featuring an electronic active differential and high performance brakes, the V8R has handling capabilities that exceed what most people would possibly require.

With the larger wheels and firm suspension setup, the F-type R rides slightly towards the harsh side on rough pavement. A crucial difference between the coupe and convertible is that adding a fixed roof to this car has increased torsional rigidity of the aluminum chassis by 80%.

There are those that say you don't necessarily need 550 hp, and those people are wrong. The power is addicting, stomping on the gas will cause immediate destruction of rear tires and when it hooks up will rocket you to illegal speeds faster than you can say “The Porsche 911 is slow”.

Exterior styling is seductive, adding a fixed roof made the already beautiful convertible into one of the best looking cars on the market. The F-type looks exotic, and people notice. It doesnt matter if you even like cars, anyone that sees it appreciates the car. In Ultimate Black with Black 20” Tornado wheels, the F-type R looks absolutely evil.

If you buy this car you need to warn your neighbors, starting this monster up in the morning will wake up everyone on the block. But lets say you want to drive this car on a daily basis, its remarkably civilized on the inside. You get heated seats and steering wheel, a crystal clear 770W Meridian Sound System, and parking sensors and backup camera. The cargo space in the coupe is a fairly tiny 11 cubic feet but thats significantly more than the 7 cubic feet you get in the convertible.

As with all new Jaguars, the interior is put together beautifully. Marvelous fit and finish with excellent materials. The extended leather pack covers every surface with supple leather, it has great looking comfortable supportive seats. The orange starter button and shift paddles stand out, and the panoramic glass roof lets in more lighten to brighten the cockpit.

This car is honestly one of the best sounding and looking cars on the market. Combined with a healthy dose of supercharged power, this car represents one of the most alluring sports car to ever be built.
