Although it sounds like it’s destroying the record when it drops into the receiving drawer, it is designed in such a way that it is harmless . The receiving drawer is padded and lined with felt. Most of the records that came with this Victrola have been played on it by three generations of the same family since the 1920’s, without breaking or scuffing one. The needle used here is a new-old-stock RCA Victor Chromium needle designed for multiple plays.
