This song speaks to many of the powerful things that can happen when we worship!

Here are five focus points:

1. TRUTH – One of the most powerful things that happens when we worship is that God’s truth AND the many truths about God are declared!

2. FOCUS – What has our attention is what has us. Worship, like nothing else, has a way of putting the character, nature, and activity of God before us and placing all the distractions and worries of life into the distant background.

3. PERSPECTIVE – When we get that glimpse and reminder of just how glorious our God is, we come face to face with the blessed reality that our problems are small compared to the greatness of our God!

4. RELATIONSHIP – A significant scripture for me is Psalm 25:14, “friendship with the Lord is with those who fear Him. To them He tells the secrets of His covenant.” One of the ways we actively fear and reverence the Lord is through worship.

5. CLOSENESS – Our Lord comes close as we praise and adore Him. He dwells in, occupies, and makes His home in our praise!


Hebrews 12:2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.

Psalm 27:4 NIV “One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.”

Psalm 63:2 “I have seen You in the sanctuary and beheld Your power and glory.”

Luke 10:42 “But only one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, and it will not be taken away from her.”

Psalm 22:3 NLT “Yet you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel.”

Matthew 14:29, 30 NIV “‘Come,’ he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”

Romans 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

Psalm 25:14 NLT “The LORD is a friend to those who fear him. He teaches them his covenant.”

Romans 8:18 ESV “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”

2 Cor. 4:17 NLT “For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!

Psalm 25:14 ESV The friendship of the LORD is for those who fear him, and he makes known to them his covenant.

Daniel 2:22 NLT “He reveals deep and mysterious things and knows what lies hidden in darkness, though he is surrounded by light.”

Romans 8:16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children.

Col. 3:16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.
