I’m running out of ways to say it’s a new week, so insert one of your own this time around, lol.

Today, I thought we’d go with the sailing pot-smasher himself, Toon Link. I almost never draw in the toon style, mostly cos I find their eyes just that little bit creepy, but I couldn’t hold it back any longer. He’s a part of the series, and I’d better get him done and dusted.

I don’t think I’ve ever drawn the King of Red Lions before, but after watching and rewatching Starbomb’s A Boy and His Boat, I’ve started to want to draw him. An expressive boat should be an interesting sketch, even if it is a strange concept.

I decided to do this one digital to keep within the “toon” aesthetic. The toon characters have really saturated colours, and my pencils simply can’t do that sort of stuff well. It’s a weird thing to admit, but I can’t get the consistent colours that Toon Link needs to look good.

This one’s concept is a little bit funky, but Link’s kinda under attack, and isn’t doing so fantastic at holding Ganon’s crew of monsters back, so he’s left the driving up to the boat. Early concepts of this idea had me writing “Shut up and drive” but I didn’t think it would be appropriate for the silent protagonist to break his vow of silence over that.
