Homemade Cheese Shanghai Mooncake 自制芝士上海月饼 Easy Homemade Mid Autumn Gift 美味中秋礼品

🎈Mooncake( 中秋月饼 / 中秋月餅) is a savoury sweet treat which is traditionally eaten during Chinese mid-autumn festival which called Zhong Qiu Jie (中秋节 /中秋節).

Shanghai mooncake is a perfect homemade gift for mid-autumn festival as it is an easy to make mooncake and no mould required to shape this tasty mooncake.

In this video, I made Cheese Shanghai Mooncake ... a cheesy and buttery crust with sweet red bean (+ cranberry) paste & salted egg yolk fillings. The Cheese Shanghai Mooncake tastes so good as the combination of the cheezy crust & the sweet red bean fillings + salty egg yolk made the pastry not too sweet to consume.
For the making of the crust, you can add more cheese if you think that the cheese doesn t taste as expectation.

The paste of the fillings in the Shanghai Mooncake can be varied according to preference. Can use red bean paste, lotus paste, etc. I am using readymade read bean with cranberry paste that I bought from baking ingredients shop.
The decoration of the Shanghai Mooncake also be varied, ... can use black sesame, white sesame, melon seeds, etc.
I was using different topping decorations to differentiate the fillings inside the Shanghai Mooncake. I used black sesame for bean paste + salted egg yolk fillings. For the fillings with additional roasted/toasted melon seeds, I decorated it with melon seeds.

Shanghai Mooncake is a great pastry to enjoy with a cup of tea during the full moon of mid-autumn festival.
