We took the Sony A1 II, Canon EOS R1, and Nikon Z9 to the Simola Hillclimb and put them to work, no gimbals, no controlled environments, just real-world shooting in the rain, sun, and chaos of race day.

Each camera had its moment. The Canon impressed with its autofocus and colour science, the Nikon held its own with solid performance and pro ergonomics, and the Sony? It quietly stole the show. From resolution to dynamic video and buttery stabilization, the A1 II proved itself as the all-rounder to beat.

This wasn’t about specs, it was about feel, reliability, and performance when it matters. And while all three are serious tools, only one left us reaching for it first.
